DUAL CITIZENSHIP:

In relation to (Republic Act) R.A 9225, a former natural born Philippine citizen can reacquire his Filipino citizenship thru the Retention of Philippine Citizenship Act. It is an essential requirement especially for the Filipinos working and living abroad who lost its Philippine citizenship and will purchase a property. Requirements:

 If the Oath of Allegiance cannot be taken before an authorized (BI) Legal Officer, submit the following:

1. Oath of Allegiance taken before any person duly authorized to administer oaths; and
2. Duly notarized written justification/explanation why the Oath of Allegiance was not taken before the said BI Legal Officer.

Proof as natural-born Philippine citizen – the original and a copy of at least one (1) of the following must be submitted:

1. Philippine Birth Certificate
2. Old Philippine passport
3. Voter’s Identification Card
4. Marriage Certificate and
5. Other official document/s indicating that the applicant is a former natural-born Philippine citizen.
6. Photocopy of Foreign passport.
7. Photocopy of Certificate of Naturalization or an original affidavit: stating how foreign citizenship was acquired.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS FOR BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION REGISTERED ALIENS:

1. Original I-Card or Alien Certificate of Registration.
2. Original Immigrant Certificate of Residence (ICR) or Certificate of Residence for Temporary Visitor (CRTV).

Two (2) pieces self-addressed stamped envelope (legal size).

IF WITH DEPENDENT/S, the following additional requirements must be submitted:

Duly Accomplished Verified Petition: (BI FORM: MCL-08-02).

Two (2) pieces – passport size colored pictures over royal blue background.

Photocopy of Birth Certificate.

Photocopy of foreign passport; and

Proof of Payment of application fee – original receipt/s
